Specialized Lab Testing

Lab testing is foundational to functional medicine and functional nutrition for good reason. It can show you what is causing your symptoms, if you are headed toward a disease (even if you don’t have symptoms), track the progress of your protocol, and motivate you to stick with your protocol.

Tests Available

** What type of testing you may need depends on your symptoms and health history. As a functional dietitian, I do not diagnose or prescribe, but I do use functional laboratory tests to help find the right ways to support my clients’ health.

Food sensitivity testing.

If a food you eat regularly causes inflammation, this contributes to chronic health disorders.

Toxic metals sensitivity testing.

As with foods, an immune reaction to metals an trigger chronic inflammatory health disorders.

Gut testing.

Gut problems contribute to chronic health issues. Tests can screen for leaky gut, gut function, parasites, bacterial overgrowth, and autoimmune reactions.

Adrenal testing.

Adrenal testing reveals the relationship between your health and stress handling. The most important test is the second one because it shows if your protocol is working. If not, you need to dig deeper.

Hormone testing.

Hormone imbalances profoundly affect health. Testing screens for excesses, deficiencies, feedback loops, and how well you metabolize hormones.

DNA genetic testing.

Genetic testing delivers insight into disease risk and genetic metabolic variations that affect health. An example is the MTHFR variance.

How Does This Work?

Step 1: Book a Free Consult

Get started with a free phone consultation, where we’ll talk more about your challenges, your health and nutrition goals. Together we will decide which of my program or lab test protocol is right for you.

Schedule Your Free Assessment Call

Step 2: Order Your Lab Test.

With each lab test purchased, you will be mailed a saliva, urine or hair test home kit, pre-paid envelope within 3-5 business days. Once your lab sample is taken, you will mail it back using the pre-paid envelope. The lab will then analyze your results and send me a full PDF report.

Step 3: Discuss the Results.

Once your results are ready (within 10 business days) you will be sent a full PDF lab report with your results & suggestions. We will then set up a 15 minute phone call to briefly discuss the results and implications. If the client is then interested in a personalized nutrition & lifestyle plan after receiving the results of their test (ex. they have estrogen dominance, adrenal fatigue or leaky gut) than we will discuss moving forward with a structured nutrition, supplement & wellness plan to correct the issue(s) at hand.

I don’t take insurance for lab tests but I can provide you with a superbill (medical receipt) upon request. If your insurance company reimburses for dietitian services, you can submit the superbill to them and they will reimburse you directly.

Absolutely! I work with all of my clients virtually. We will meet via video conference or phone call and communicate between sessions using email. You get the same high-quality coaching support without having to leave the comfort of your own home or office. Lab tests can ONLY be sent to Canada and the USA.

Contact me to set up your complimentary consult call. If you know what program you want to start, you can purchase the program. Once you submit your payment info, you’ll be sent a scheduling link to book your first appointment.

Based on the information that you provide me at your appointment, your health status, and your budget, I may recommend functional medicine testing to help guide your nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. If appropriate, I provide you with a kit to bring home to collect saliva, urine, stool, or hair. Genetic tests sometimes use a mouth cheek swab. Each kit comes with its own pre-paid mailer, which you drop off at the appropriate carrier or call for pick-up at your home.
